Pretty hard to appreciate unless you've experienced it. More specifically, Nelson - a quiet little town planted long ago on a sunny mountainside near the banks of the Kootenay River. Art in its many forms are, to many, the heart and soul of the area. My grandfather, John De Jong, was well-known for his contribution to its culture by his use of oil paintings, watercolour paintings, and charcoal renderings. Early in his artistic endeavors he dabbled in black-and-white photography. My father, too, has an interest in photography and has captured life's moments for many years. I draw inspiration from this rich legacy and hope to add a small amount to it.

I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy producing it. That is, after all, what art is for. To afford opportunity for pause from life's incessant noise. Grab a good cup of coffee, sit down, and take a moment for yourself. If someone is nearby maybe have them grab your camera and capture that moment. The quiet moments are the ones to hang onto.

Pure By Design Photography is based in Beaverton, OR USA.

See more about Nelson's art scene here: www.discovernelson.com

More to come later. Just getting the feet wet and establishing the footprint. Check back for new developments. Updates may not come often, but if necessary be assured I'll be updating!

For now check out my galleries at:

http://pbdphotography.smugmug.com/
